Police officers are some of the bravest men and women in our country.

They risk their lives on a daily basis in order to make this country a safe place to live.

Not only do human police officers risk their lives for us, but police dogs do as well.

When a police dog gives up his life to save someone, he deserves all the honor and respect of a human officer.

Kye is a 3-year-old Belgian Shepherd who went above and beyond the call of duty. He was working with his handler, Officer Ryan Stark, one day when they found themselves in a high speed car chase.

The suspect crashed his vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. This is where Kye comes in. The brave dog caught up to him and restrained him until his handler caught up to them.

Kye had received numerous stab wounds before his handler disarmed the man and unfortunately he passed away the next day due to his injuries.

Kye had over 1,000 attendees at his funeral where he was buried with full police honors in a flag-draped coffin.

His handler stated, “Without question, Kye’s sacrifice saved the life of one of the officers. We will forever remain in your debt.”

Kye will be greatly missed but his sacrifice will never be forgotten. SHARE the love and pass it on!
