While most pet owners refer to their pups as their babies, I’ve always wondered if dogs remember their moms and dads — you know, their real moms and dads. I’m definitely not suggesting that dogs don’t love their human parents, but it is interesting to think about whether or not they remember where they really came from.
In the case of beautiful Golden Retriever puppy, Harper, they do.
After four months living with her human family, Harper was brought back to where she was born to spend some time with her birth mom. While neither human family knew what would happen when the two dogs saw each other again, I don’t think either were expecting the reaction they got.
As soon as the mom and pup saw one another, it was game over. They were so excited! There were wagging tales and shaking booties, lots of jumping, and some seriously contagious smiles going on.
While we know it’s not feasible for all human families to keep in touch with their dog’s birth mom, if you have the chance to do so, it’s definitely a wonderful thing! Your pup will love it.
