Raccoon Knocks On Woman’s Door With Rock For Food

Researchers from LiveScience say that animals do not have a true language like humans. However, they do communicate with each other through sounds and gestures. Animals have a number of inborn qualities they use to signal their feelings. That should explain this very clever female raccoon. Not sure how to label this video, but it adorably shows it knocking on a patio door.

Many people have the disposition that raccoons are genuinely sadistic creatures that take pleasure in trying to kill dogs and cats. I have seen fights between raccoons and dogs where the dog did not emerge victorious.

But not this raccoon. The black-and-white intruder doesn’t knock with her paws. Instead, she picks up a rock and rolls it on the sliding glass door. Thus the name ‘Rocksy.’ The woman claims that this is the animal’s regular way of telling her the food bowl she leaves out is empty. Genius right?

The woman seems intrigued and welcomes the innovative creature. She leaves food out so the nursing mother could take back to her babies who she leaves in the den. Even the family pet seems to be comfortable with Rocksy.

The woman narrating says, “Just because you see a raccoon out in the day, it does not mean it has rabies; that is such a myth. Usually it’s a nursing mother raccoon out trying to get food for her babies.”

So true! What do you think about Rocksy? Isn’t she darling?
