There are those common crooks who wear masks and are known for robbing banks or holding up restaurants. It is also known that animals can be little thieves, just take the pizza-carrying rat in New York City’s subway system for instance. Now there’s this little bandit who is receiving his share of fame for stealing a single doughnut from a cafe.
The Toronto critter is having its own moment in the spotlight after covertly descending from a coffee-shop ceiling in an artful doughnut heist. The raccoon reached down between the shop’s ceiling tiles to break into a doughnut case loaded with sweet treats. It carefully balances itself between the ceiling and the donut case, spending several seconds looking around for a choice steal.
Onlookers off camera watched with disbelief, cheering the critter on. One said, “He’s doing it. He is doing it!”
“Full commitment, full commitment. Go raccoon go!” said another. After a few moments surveying the goods, the raccoon makes its selection – orange – and recoiled back into the ceiling, snack in hand.
Peter Jensen, the man who recorded the event, aptly described the clip Sly Cooper and the Thievious Donutus. It is a reference to the video game Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, which stars a bandit raccoon named Sly Cooper and his accomplices, a turtle and hippo, on a quest to recover a book of secret thieving tactics.
Too funny!
