It’s almost hard to remember a time before smart phones and social media took over our lives. But the days of pay phones, Thomas Guides, and actual pen and paper weren’t really that long ago.
In fact, the iPhone was released in June of 2007 and since then smart phones have evolved, giving us pretty much everything we need wrapped up in one device, including social media. Social media is a wonderful thing, it allows us to stay connected with loved ones and share our lives with people we might not normally have the chance to communicate with.
But between sharing photos, updating statuses and watching videos, have we become so addicted to social media that we’re not noticing life happening around us? Whenever I’m out I always see people constantly looking down at their phones, which I’m totally guilty of too!
What if somehow we were forced to look up and have actual interactions with things happening right before our eyes? Coca-Cola has pondered the same thing, which is why they’ve created a silly campaign called the Social Media Guard, where they’re taking the ‘“social” out of media and putting it back into your life.’
If you’ve ever seen a dog wearing a cone then the Social Media Guard will look very familiar. See what happens to people when they put on the Coca-Cola Social Media Guard and are forced to put down their phones and look up.
