He Turned A Room In His Basement Into A Rustic Man Cave

Bethany Burrows

Some people find painting a room to be a hassle where others are willing to renovate whole rooms at the drop of a hat.

This man wanted to create a man cave. A place where he could go to get away, relax and escape.

What he ended up creating was so much better than anything he could have expected. I don’t know about the fishing gear and the guns, but I could sure go for a wo-man cave myself!

The room he started off with was nothing special — broken ceiling tiles, a disco ball and bags of his kids old toys were scattered around … but this was a man with a plan!

Rustic Man Cave

He found dozens of old crate boards for FREE that he used for the walls. He wanted to give the illusion that they were hand cut so he used a draw knife to make that happen.

With the new walls in place the room was looking better already!

He used stones that he found by the road to create a faux fireplace to make the room feel nice and cozy.

Using reclaimed wood, he built a table that opens and closes for small storage.

To hide the steel floor supports he created columns to surround them.

The finished man cave took six weeks to complete and only cost $107 in construction materials. The contents inside cost a lot more but what do you expect, they’re not giving away mounted deer heads for free! The room looks like it belongs in the woods and if you squint really hard at that faux window view, you might even feel like you are!

A room in the basement? Looks more like a cabin to me!
