These Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies Will Bring You Back To Your Childhood

The internet is full of recipes for chocolate chip cookies. But every so often we run across a recipe that really is life changing and is so good that it needs to be shared with the masses.

This recipe for salted caramel chocolate chip cookies by Tiffany over at La Creme de la Crumb is one of those recipes that simply had to be shared. It really is all-around excellent.

To make these gooey chunks of goodness, you’ll need the following:

  • 12 tablespoons butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 small box instant vanilla pudding mix – dry, not prepared (one 3.4 ounce box, it must be INSTANT – not cook and serve, etc)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 24 soft caramels (such as Kraft square caramels, unwrapped)
  • optional: coarse sea salt

To get started, beat the sugar and butter together for about two minutes and then slowly add the vanilla and egg. In a different bowl set aside, mix together the pudding mix, flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold in the dry ingredients slowly. Once both bowls are completely mixed together, add in the chocolate chips and chill for at least one hour.

Next, you’ll want to preheat your oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a baking sheet. Then, you’ll want to roll a ball of cookie dough, place a soft caramel on top, then put another ball of cookie dough on top of that and squish the two together so that it forms one bigger cookie with the caramel between.

Repeat until the dough is gone. Bake for about 10 minutes and enjoy!

You seriously will not be able to stop eating — they’re that good.
