I am one of those people who plans to live in a tiny house, and this family just got me even more excited. While more and more people are transitioning to a more sustainable lifestyle, this family has taken it up a notch.
Sarah Szymczak, her husband Ed, and their four kids live in a converted school bus that rivals a million dollar home.
The family got the yellow bus from a government auction and decorated it themselves. Despite the tiny living space, they have made the experience into a plush one. The children are homeschooled and enjoy every minute of it.

The family had their reasons for choosing a school bus. The adventure and simplicity of bus living were at the forefront. They own a house in Minnesota, but rented a home in Seattle, Washington. The money they spent converting a bus to a tiny home was way less than what they pay for a year’s worth of rent and utilities.

Sarah and Ed believed their financially responsible move allowed them the freedom to focus on life experiences—something that is priceless. They are committed to one year living in the bus, where they plan to live a simple life while Ed is in medical school. The Szymczak’s has a long-term plan to purchase land, build a tiny permanent home, and live mortgage-free.
I am so jealous.
