I consider myself a pretty solid DIY-er. I paint, I craft, I sew, I stitch, and I’ve even reupholstered a few chairs in my day. The one thing I’ve yet to conquer, however, is woodworking.

Though I’m no stranger to power tools, there’s something that has always scared me about setting up a literal shop class in my garage. Maybe it’s the fear of losing a finger or perhaps just my general inability to do math, but woodworking is something I’ve always stayed away from. Frankly, it looks hard.

This video, however, might have finally given me the push I needed to try my hand at making stuff with wood. After all, this dude makes it look super easy!

While there are far too many steps to explain here and I don’t want to be liable for any missing fingers, I will say that this masterful woodworker makes constructing a beautiful homemade vase from scratch look surprisingly easy.

So easy, in fact, that I plan on attempting to make one myself this weekend. I hope mine looks half as good as his. If you plan on trying it out as well, just remember to take lots of notes, wear your goggles, and keep your eye on the prize! Best of luck and happy woodworking!
