There are no words to describe this colossal tragedy. There are numerous stories of people of all ages attempting to depict the impossible while trying to take a selfie, but this one goes terribly wrong. 19-year-old is Deleon Smith is dead, after accidentally shooting himself in the neck while posing for photos with a gun.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex in southwest Houston. Police say Deleon Smith found a gun and was taking photos of his cousin and himself. Police say Smith was posting the photos to social media when he accidentally shot himself and died. The phone has been confiscated by the Police as part of their investigation.

The selfie epidemic has unfortunately caused the death of several teens worldwide. According to the Oddee, one Romanian teenage girl burst into flames while touching a live wire attempting to take a selfie. Another plunged to her death after taking a selfie on top of a railway bridge.

Family members say Deleon Smith was to start classes at Houston Community College the very next day. The young father leaves behind two small daughters, ages one and three.

This story should serve as a public service announcement to those young daredevils wishing to accomplish the impossible trying to take a selfie. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.
