Special Service Dog Help Ease This Bride’s Anxiety on Her Big Day

Angela Markus

Dogs play invaluable roles in our lives. For one bride, her service dog was able to calm her down on one of her biggest days.

Maddie Peschong of Mad Photo and Design was able to capture the lovely moment, and now the photos are melting hearts across the internet.

Valerie Parrott experienced an anxiety attack just before her wedding ceremony, but her service dog, Bella, was right there to calm her down. In the photo, Valerie is seen cozying up to Bella, a Yellow Lab wearing a tutu. The dog is Valerie’s medical alert and psychiatric service dog.

Bella leaned against Valerie’s knees in one of the photos—a tactic used to help keep her calm.

Minutes before the photo was taken, Bella alerted Valerie to her high anxiety, and got her to refocus. The service dog also walked down the aisle with the bride. Valerie calls Bella “an extended part of me” and wanted to share her big day with the animal that is so special to her.

“Since she’s with me all the time, we wanted to make it special for her as well,” Valerie told ABC News. “We made a special vest for her and a tutu, and she walked by my side down the aisle and sat up front with us during the ceremony.” She also stated, “I think the best part about this photo is that it really shows the bond that Bella and I have.”
