He Skinned His Watermelon and Made His Entire Party Go WOW!

Some fruits, like oranges and bananas, are easier to peel than others. But as it turns out, it’s pretty simple to skin a watermelon, too. It also makes for a great party trick.

Former NASA engineer Mark Rober loves to post amazing food hacks and tricks to his YouTube channel Creativity Design Science. He recently discovered and shared an interesting way to make it look like he actually skinned a watermelon.

First, Rober started with two watermelons of similar shapes and sizes. He then made a bunch of shallow cuts, shedding the skin of one watermelon until there was no green rind left. Next, he trimmed off all the edges to make it look a little cleaner.

Though Rober said by this point the watermelon looked somewhat ok, he wanted to make it appear absolutely smooth, so there was no evidence any handiwork. This genius took some new dish scrubbing pads and scrubbed off all the edges.

After creating the smooth interior for his trick, Rober halved the second watermelon to make the fake rind exterior. After cutting it in half, he guts the watermelon.

The end product looks spectacular. Plus, Rober said you can put the watermelon “back together” and impress your guests by taking it apart. And if you want to eat it, there will be no rind to clean up later.

As you can see, this engineer is known for using the watermelon to make interesting food hacks. He created a super-easy smoothie recipe using a watermelon, a coat hanger, a screwdriver, and a plastic cup. Incredible!

SHARE the love and pass it on.
