How to Make Slow Cooker Apple Butter

Just when you thought apple butter couldn’t get any better, Allrecipes.com has come up with a slow-cooker recipe to make your favorite topping even sweeter!

The process is no fuss and you’ll have a spotless kitchen once you’re done with this creation. Here’s what you need to do:

Peel five and a half pounds of apples, either using a crank apple peeler or a hand peeler. Remove the core and finely chop the apples. Then, place the apples into a slow cooker.

In a separate bowl, add four cups of sugar, two teaspoons of ground cinnamon, a quarter teaspoon of ground cloves, and a quarter teaspoon of salt. Once you mix it all together, add the mixture to the apples in the slow cooker.

Cover the slow cooker and set on high for one hour. Then, reduce to low for 9 to 11 hours. It’ll seem like forever with smell of that rich, sweet flavor in the air, but the end result will be so worth it.

Finally, uncover the slow cooker and continue cooking on low for one more hour. Give it a good whisk and when it’s ready, add it to your cute mason jars, and store in refrigerator.

Enjoy on toast and biscuits!
