Each generation has a style of dance that defines it. The 1930s and 40s will be remembered as the era of the Jitterbug and swing dancing. Elvis Presley made his career debut in 1956 and with it came the beginning of rock ‘n’ roll. And who can forget the famous MC Hammer dance from the 90s?
Dancing is an art, a form of personal expression and a huge part of our culture. The countless talent and dancing shows on TV these days proves it! If you’re anything like me, you’re a sucker for all those types of shows. I just love “America’s Got Talent,” “X Factor” and “So You Think You Can Dance”!
Being an avid talent show fan, I thought I had seen it all, until I stumbled upon this video of a 2008 “So You Think You Can Dance” audition. Robert Muraine, a 20-year-old Los Angeles native, took the audition stage to show off his…interesting dance moves.
His audition was unlike anything the judges had ever seen before. He didn’t go out there with a typical routine — instead he showed the judges a different style of dance. By the end of the song, their jaws were on the floor!
Judge Nigel Lythgoe said Muraine was his favorite dancer of the season and I can see why! From the second he started dancing I was hooked!
This video has become an Internet sensation and people all across the world can’t get enough of Muraine’s unique and interesting style of dance. When you see it, you wont be able to look away!
