The song was number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for two weeks in February of 1965 and was ranked the number 5 song of that year. It has since been chosen as one of the Songs of the Century by the RIAA and was ranked #34 on Rolling Stone’s Greatest Songs of All-Time.
