Make Stained Glass Candy Cups With This Easy Tutorial!

If you haven’t jumped on the silicone molds train just yet, you still have some time. School is still out, and you may find yourself searching for activities for yourself and the kids. This kitchen project created by Brook Mclay will have you jumping to high heaven.

Silicone molds top the list for kitchen must-haves. It safely heats to more than 600 degrees Fahrenheit, and it does not stick to anything. Really!

Follow along with this recipe to cook hard candy and create stained glass candy cups. It is the perfect treat for the kids, young and old alike.

You will need two, 13-ounce bags of hard candy, and one silicone glass mold. The total prep time is 15 minutes, but allow an hour for the entire process to be completed.

The first step includes preheating the oven to 350 F. Next you would want to unwrap the candies and separate by color. The kids would have fun with this step. She recommends that you put all of the candies of the same color in a zip-lock bag and finely crush with a rolling pin.

Then you need to stack candy in each silicone cup to create a rainbow effect. Then add a few hard candies to the top of each cup. Place the silicone mold onto a baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the candy begins to melt. It is important to pay attention to the candy.

Take the baking sheet out of the oven and press more candy into each cup until the cups are filled to the brim. You can put the tray back into the oven for five to seven minutes or until candy is completely melted. After which, remove from oven and allow to completely cool. You can put the mold into the refrigerator for 25 minutes.

When the candy is cooled completely, you can now remove from the mold. Here is the fun part! You can fill with ice cream, sorbet, soda, sparkling water, or pudding. The choices are endless.
