Country music singer Joey Martin Feek should be planning a charmed life. Instead, the 40-year-old is spending her last days with much-needed hospice care in her home. Her husband Rory announced in a tear-jerking blog post that Joey’s days are numbered after a long battle with cervical cancer.

Joey’s plan to combat cancer included surgery in 2014, and then aggressive chemotherapy and radiation, But, her cancer continued to spread, and the couple announced last month that Joey would stop treatment and would focus on being comfortable in her final days.

The arranged hospice care in their family home comes complete with morphine doses to stop the terrible pain, and Joey will have her hospital bed near a carpet so she can watch Indiana, her daughter, play. In the blog post, Rory talked about the difficulties the family has been going through as well as the painful decision to alter Joey’s care.

He wrote, “At 4 am on Friday morning we rushed Joey to the hospital in Muncie. Her pain had become too much to bare. A few hours later the doctors told us that the pain was from the cancer tumors continuing to grow and become inflamed and we need to concentrate now on helping her be comfortable. Not the answer we hoped for… but the answer He has given us.” He continued, “After a series of different medications that didn’t seem to touch the pain – heavy doses of morphine brought Joey sweet relief.”

That decision must have been a hard one.

Here is a clip of her daughter Indiana making funny faces for Momma. Such a sweet way to say See you again. Please keep this beautiful family in your prayers.
