It’s cold on the East Coast right now. I mean REALLY cold. For example, Nantucket, an island off the east coast of the U.S. has gotten down to 19 degrees or -7 degrees Celsius. That is well below the point of freezing.

It was cold enough that ice started forming on the shores of the beach. While the waves and ocean themselves didn’t freeze, there was a thin layer of ice that did form over the top of the water. This made for some amazing visuals.

It looked as if the waves themselves were frozen in time but they are still moving! These photos were shot by a photographer named Jonathan Nimerfroh. You can find more pictures like this at his blog.
