I’m sure everyone has heard about the rumor that Walmart’s ice cream sandwiches do not melt. When I first heard this, my thoughts where just like most of everyone else’s: There’s no way that’s true. Apparently it is.
A radio station in Sioux Falls decided to put this to the test. The radio station DJ put the ice cream sandwich in the 80-degree sun. He checked on it 20 minutes later and it had not even begun to melt!
Then, he decided to do this same test to Blue Bunny’s vanilla ice cream to show the comparison. After 35 minutes the Blue Bunny ice cream was toast — it was a giant puddle of vanilla and milk.
After about an hour the Walmart Great Value ice cream sandwich had barely started to melt. There was some sort of clear liquid pooling beneath the sandwich — ew.
The end result of this experiment? After an hour and fifteen minutes that ice cream sandwich looked almost exactly like it did when he first took it out of the box. Is nothing sacred anymore!? It’s like when the whole world found out the McDonalds burgers do not even begin to mold after a month!
Why can’t food just be what it claims to be anymore? One thing is for sure though — my kids will not be eating Walmart ice cream sandwiches anytime soon!
