Chances are, you’ve probably heard Magic!’s hit single, “Rude,” and if so, you probably haven’t been able to get it out of your head! Sure, it’s a super catchy tune and I’m not gonna lie, I’ve listened to it over and over again. BUT, when you really consider the lyrics, you start to question the song’s appeal. Think about it, basically the entire song is conveying the message that women belong to their fathers until they belong to their husbands. NOT COOL. As far as I’m concerned, women don’t belong to anyone but themselves!

Well, when he first heard this song, one opinionated father decided to come out with his own version of the song. Building his lyrics around the idea that he won’t allow anyone to marry his daughter until they’ve proven their worth, the song is cute and gained massive traction in the online world. However, as funny and admirable as his version is (only wanting the best for his little princess), little did he know that his daughter would retaliate with her own opinion on the matter!

In Nicky Costabile’s version, she doesn’t hold back in getting her side of the story across! Her chorus basically sums it up nicely, “both of you are being crude, you know that I’m a person too, acting like controlling dudes, no one asked me for my say.”
