Whether we like to admit it or not, the fact is, we’re all fascinated by the lives of celebrities. I don’t know if it’s the allure of the unknown or the pure attraction to that coveted lifestyle we’ll probably never touch – everyone holds at least some curiosity into what really goes on when the cameras go off.
I know for me, I can’t help but marvel how these men and women stay looking perfect, like, all the time. I mean it can’t possibly have to do with their personal trainers, private chefs and the fact that they get paid to look good…(note my sarcasm).
Okay, so yes, they get a little help in the health department. But still, I’d love to know what exactly goes down in the living room – it can’t be kale and carrot sticks ALL the time!
So my nosiness got the best of me, and with the help from a few sources around the web, we’ve got a list of what’s on the breakfast menu for a few of Hollywood’s biggest stars…past and present!
In a 1952 edition of Pageant Magazine, America’s sex symbol Marilyn Monroe revealed to the publication’s readers her unusual morning routine.
“I’ve been told that my eating habits are absolutely bizarre, but I don’t think so. Before I take my morning shower, I start warming a cup of milk on the hot plate I keep in my hotel room. When it’s hot, I break two raw eggs into the milk, whip them up with a fork, and drink them while I’m dressing. I supplement this with a multi-vitamin pill, and I doubt if any doctor could recommend a more nourishing breakfast for a working girl in a hurry.”
I don’t know Marilyn, I’m going to have to say most of us don’t drink eggs with a side of pills for breakfast!
If you know anything about “The King,” you’d probably assume his go-to breakfast included peanut butter, banana, and bacon. But according to his personal cook, the rock ‘n’ roll legend opted for “homemade biscuits fried in butter, sausage patties, four scrambled eggs, and sometimes fried bacon.”
She was known for her All-American beauty and her minimalistic charm – so when I discovered Audrey Hepburn’s breakfast of choice, I can’t say I was surprised. Two boiled eggs and a slice of whole wheat toast for this gorgeous woman, you classy lady, you.
Ever wonder how the stars keep their slim figure? My guess is they take a note from this Hollywood diva. Starting the day off with a bowl of oatmeal, Grace Kelly kept full snacking on carrot sticks, celery, and dried apricots. Coined the ‘elevenses,’ Grace limited her intake to these four items before 11am rolled around.
While we can only assume that every skinny celeb eats like Gracy Kelly, there are always those actresses who insist they’ve never dieted a day in their life! I can’t help but hold a bit of skepticism to these claims, like this one from Judy Garland.
“You should see the breakfasts I eat. No glamour girl ever eats such breakfasts. Truck drivers, maybe — but not glamour girls. Orange juice, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, coffee. A real meal. It takes something like that to get me out of bed in the morning. Something worthwhile in the line of food,” she once said.
Well Judy, if this is the truth, more power to you!
According to NY Mag, “In 1960, when she was generally considered to be the most beautiful woman in the world, Elizabeth Taylor’s daily diet consisted of the following: scrambled eggs, bacon, and a mimosa for breakfast.” Now we’re talking! This is one breakfast routine I could jump on board with.
No indulgent buffet of steamy french toast and sizzling bacon for this First Lady. For someone who has access to whatever meal she could dream of, Michelle Obama chooses to stick to more conventional, health conscious route. Business Insider reports that President’s wife begins her day with scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and grapefruit. Sounds good to me!
Believe it or not, this rare beauty has a surprisingly realist take on breakfast. She says, “I don’t always eat breakfast; I should. I always have coffee, but I try to have yogurt and fruit, or yogurt and granola — or breakfast tacos.” Tacos? For breakfast? I think this stunning mom is onto something!
If there’s anyone to take advice from, it’s the Queen Bee herself.
“I always have breakfast, say, scrambled egg whites, a vegetable smoothie, or whole grain cereal with low-fat milk.”
Now, if she could just let us know how to get those killer abs too, that would be great.
If there’s one celebrity meal plan you’ve heard of before, it’s probably Gwyneth Paltrow’s. Her incredibly strict diet has sparked tremendous controversy with it’s impractical restrictions and pricey ingredients. For breakfast she recommends a spinach and mushroom (duck) egg white omelet, green juice, leftover quinoa, banana date muffins, and oatmeal. Sorry, Gwyn, we’ll leave the duck eggs for you to enjoy.
But for me, I call it a success if I eat anything at all before 10am. Between making the kids lunches, getting myself ready to face the day, and making sure everyone’s headed out the door on time, give me a LARGE cup of coffee and I’m good to go. And if for whatever reason, there is no coffee…then we’ve got ourselves a problem (lol)!
