She Decided to Induce Labor So Her Dying Husband Could Hold His Daughter

Like many other happy families out there, Diane Aulger and her husband Mark were expecting a baby. But unlike most other happy families, Mark was bedridden and only had days to live.

The days and months leading up to a child’s birth should be filled with excitement and anticipation of your new life as a family. But in those final days, Diane had to make a crucial decision that would affect her and her family’s lives forever.

Diane Aulger made the controversial decision to induce labor so that her dying husband would have the chance to hold his daughter before he passed — and it was a decision she will never regret.

Although he was bedridden, the hospital moved Mark’s bed to be placed right next to Diane so he could experience the whole birth.

In this heartbreaking video we witness Mark getting to hold his newborn daughter, Savannah. I was in tears as the pain showed so prominently on his face, knowing that this would be one of his only interactions with his little girl.

One day later, Diane knew Mark’s time was running short. She placed Savannah in his arms, and held his hand until he eventually took his last breath.
