More often than not, news stories are pretty depressing. It seems like every segment and story exists for the sole purpose of telling us how terrible people are. So when I come across a happy, uplifting news story like this, it makes me insanely happy. In fact, after watching this video, I seriously want to climb up on my roof and scream “See?! There are still good people out there!”

After realizing that a kitten was stuck in a storm drain, an incredibly kind woman took it upon herself to free the poor baby feline. With first responders and tons of onlookers standing by and cheering her on, an unnamed woman shimmied into the storm drain and was determined to not come out until she rescued the cat.

Luckily, unlike so many of those depressing news segments I watch on the local news, this story actually has a happy ending. The woman emerged with a kitty in her hand — and an amazingly wonderful grin on her face.

What a wonderful thing to do. The world would truly be a better place if there were more people like here on earth.
